Cruelty to animals is a gateway to more serious crimes: New FBI law categorizes the act as a “crime against society.”

Criminology studies show a direct correlation between people who abuse animals and also engage in acts of domestic violence. There is also evidence that animal abusers go on to more violent crimes against children and adults.

Remember – always speak up or call the police if you see, or know of an animal, being mistreated. 

Sickeningly, Facebook owners often post photos of themselves being cruel to animals. A petition last year forced Facebook to close a page that shows dozens of photos of cruelty to animals.

If somebody kicks or mistreats a dog or other animal, chances are high that the spouse, kids or others could get similar treatment.

The news media is full of incidents of unprovoked acts of cruelty on animals…

Also, many studies reveal that children who torture or kill animals are likely to show violence toward people in general when they grow up.

The expectation is the new system will help law enforcement identify youth offenders and provide opportunity to help them curb their behavior.
